Terms of service · updated 14 August 2026
Terms
Trawlia is operated by a sole trader. Using the API or the dashboard means accepting these terms.
The service
Trawlia answers search and extraction requests over HTTP. Results are assembled from third-party indexes and from publicly available web pages. We do not own that content and we do not warrant that it is accurate, complete, current, or fit for any purpose. What we provide is retrieval and ranking, not verification.
Two capabilities are built and metered but not currently enabled:
answer synthesis and browser-rendered fetches. Requests for them return
503 naming the missing capability. Nothing is charged for them, and the
pricing page marks them as unavailable.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your API keys secret and for everything done with them. Keys can be revoked from the dashboard at any time and revocation is immediate. One account per person or organisation; creating multiple free accounts to avoid paying is a breach of these terms.
You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live.
Acceptable use
Do not use Trawlia to:
- break the law, or help anyone else do so;
- collect personal data about individuals for surveillance, profiling, or harassment;
- reconstruct a bulk copy of any source we retrieve from, or resell raw results as a competing index;
- attack, overload, or probe the service or the sites it fetches from;
- evade credit limits, rate limits, or account suspension.
We may suspend an account that does any of these. Where the breach is not deliberate or dangerous, we will say what the problem is before suspending.
Credits and payment
Usage is charged in credits at the prices published on the pricing
page. The full cost of a request is taken before the work starts; requests that
fail outright are refunded. Running out returns 429 naming the cost, not
an invoice.
Paid plans renew monthly until cancelled and are billed by Polar as merchant of record. Unused credits do not roll over. Cancel any time; access continues to the end of the paid month.
Refunds
If the service does not do what this site says it does, tell us within 30 days of the charge and we will refund that month in full. That is a real commitment and not conditional on how many credits you spent.
Availability
There is no uptime guarantee and no SLA. Trawlia runs on a single
machine with no redundancy, and depends on third parties that can rate-limit or block
it without notice. A failure is always reported as a failure: a search we cannot serve
returns 502 and rate limiting returns 429, never an empty
result list dressed up as a query with no answers.
Do not build anything safety-critical on it. If that changes, this paragraph changes with it.
Liability
The service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the three months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profit or lost data.
Nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
Ending it
You can delete your account at any time by asking us. We can end your access for a breach of these terms, or by giving 30 days' notice with a pro-rata refund of any paid time remaining.
Changes
We will email account holders before material changes take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means accepting the new terms; if you would rather not, cancel and we will refund the remainder of the month.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of Singapore, and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction. This does not remove any consumer right you have where you live.
